Enclosure

20-30 gallon tank minimum. Horizontal space preferred. Hides and climbing surfaces.

Temperature

Warm side: 80-85°F. Cool side: 75-80°F. Thermal gradient. Under-tank heater optional.

Humidity

Low to moderate (40-60%). Provide water bowl. Good ventilation.

Lighting

12:12 light/dark cycle. UVB beneficial. Not required.

Diet

Small mice, earthworms, small fish. Juveniles: frequent feeding. Adults: every 5-7 days. Fast eaters.

Handling

Docile and handleable. Can be held 2-3 times per week. May musk if threatened but harmless.

Health

Hardy species. Few health issues. Watch for mites, scale rot. Live 10-15+ years.
