Overview

West African burrowing pythons. Docile, slow-growing. Uncommon but manageable. Unique behavior.

40-gallon breeder tank with deep substrate. Burrow-friendly setup essential. Hides important.

Warm side: 85-88°F. Cool side: 75-80°F. Thermal gradient. Under-tank heater with thermostat.

Moderate (50-70%). Provide water bowl. Mist substrate occasionally. Good ventilation.

12:12 light/dark cycle. UVB beneficial. Low-level lighting suitable.

Hatchlings: pinky mice. Adults: small-medium mice or rats. Feed every 10-14 days. Slow eaters.

Docile but slow-moving. Handle gently 1-2 times weekly. Support body. Fragile-seeming but hardy.
